Care information

Proper refrigeration, clean handling and moisture control will help maintain the freshness and quality of fresh sprouts and microgreens.

Refrigeration: Refrigerate fresh sprouts and microgreens promptly after collection or delivery and keep them at 5°C or below. Return the product to the refrigerator as soon as possible after serving or handling.

Storage: Keep produce in its original packaging or a clean food-safe container. Protect it from contamination and avoid crushing or tightly compressing delicate microgreens.

Moisture: Excess moisture can shorten storage life and encourage deterioration. Keep microgreens as dry as practical during storage and avoid allowing water to collect inside the container.

Handling: Always use clean hands and utensils when handling fresh produce. Avoid cross-contamination from raw meat, unwashed produce, dirty surfaces or other potential sources of contamination.

Before Eating: Inspect the product before use. Where washing is appropriate, rinse with clean drinking-quality water shortly before eating rather than washing well in advance of storage.

Freshness: Fresh sprouts and microgreens are perishable and are best consumed as soon as practical after collection or delivery. Follow any product-specific use-by, best-before or storage information provided with your order.

Food Safety: Discard produce showing signs of mould, sliminess, unusual discolouration, abnormal odour or other deterioration. Do not consume fresh sprouts or microgreens if you are unsure of their condition.

Best Quality: Keep the product continuously refrigerated, handle it hygienically and minimise unnecessary exposure to warmth and moisture until ready to use.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your order size and weight, delivery address and available carrier services. We use Australia Post and other carriers to provide suitable delivery options and rates.

Dispatch

Orders are generally packed and dispatched within 0–2 business days (Monday–Friday), excluding public holidays and unusually busy periods.

Delivery Times

Delivery times begin from the date your order is dispatched. As a general guide, Australia Post Parcel Post usually takes 2–6 business days, while Express Post generally takes 1–3 business days where available.

Regional and remote destinations may take longer. Orders containing seed sent to Western Australia, Tasmania or other biosecurity-controlled destinations may also require additional processing or inspection.

Delivery estimates are provided as a guide only and can be affected by carrier delays, weather, peak periods and biosecurity requirements.

Tracking

All shipped orders include tracking. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with your tracking information so you can follow its progress.

Authority to Leave

Depending on the carrier and delivery service, your parcel may be left in a safe location if no one is available to receive it. You can provide delivery instructions during checkout where supported by the carrier; however, specific delivery requests cannot always be guaranteed.

Local Pickup – Riverstone, NSW

Local pickup can be selected at checkout when available. Please allow approximately 2–3 business days for your order to be prepared.

Wait until we contact you to confirm that your order is ready and arrange a suitable collection time.

Please do not attend the warehouse without an appointment. All pickups are strictly by prior arrangement.

Seed Biosecurity – WA & Tasmania

Seeds and other plant material may be subject to state biosecurity restrictions.

Western Australia has specific entry requirements for seed, and seed consignments may be inspected by Quarantine WA. Tasmania also regulates the importation of viable seed, with additional requirements applying to certain species and consignments.

Requirements vary by seed species, quantity and destination and may change over time. Customers in Western Australia, Tasmania and other biosecurity-controlled areas should check current state requirements before ordering.

Where an order contains seed that cannot meet applicable biosecurity requirements, we may need to contact you before dispatch or remove affected products from the order.

Fresh Pea Tendrils – Grown to Order

Fresh pea tendrils are grown to order for crisp stems, tender leaves and delicate curling tendrils with a naturally sweet, fresh pea flavour. Ideal for salads, stir-fries and garnishes.

Description

Fresh Pea Tendrils – Grown to Order

Our fresh pea tendrils are available on a grow-to-order basis. Rather than keeping pre-packed tendrils in regular stock, we grow fresh crops specifically for confirmed orders and harvest them when the stems, leaves and characteristic curling tendrils are young and tender.

Pea tendrils have a naturally sweet, fresh pea flavour with crisp stems, tender green leaves and fine curling tips. Their combination of flavour, texture and appearance makes them particularly useful for everyday meals as well as professional food presentation.

How to Order Fresh Pea Tendrils

Fresh pea tendrils need to be ordered in advance and are not maintained as a ready-to-ship stock item.

To place an order, email admin@ozsprout.com.au with the quantity you require. We will confirm your order requirements, availability and expected timing before your crop is grown.

If you require tendrils for a café, restaurant, catering business, event or regular supply arrangement, include your preferred quantity and required date when contacting us.

Sweet Pea Flavour with Crisp, Curly Tendrils

Pea tendrils deliver the familiar sweetness of fresh peas in a tender young green. The stems provide a light crunch while the leaves and curling tendrils remain delicate, creating a versatile combination of flavour and texture.

Serve them fresh in salads, sandwiches, wraps and bowls, add them to omelettes and soups, or use the curling tendrils as an attractive green garnish. They also work particularly well in stir-fries and other quickly cooked savoury dishes.

Young Pea Shoots Harvested Fresh

Pea tendrils are grown from pea seed in trays using a suitable growing medium and harvested above the seed and root zone. They are typically harvested once the stems and leaves have developed and the characteristic curling tendrils are still young and tender.

The finished product consists of the tender above-ground stems, young leaves and developing tendrils rather than the seed and roots eaten with whole seed sprouts.

Storage & Preparation

Fresh pea tendrils are highly perishable and should remain refrigerated at 0–5°C. Keep them protected from contamination and excess moisture.

Wash thoroughly under cool running water immediately before use, drain well and serve promptly. For the best flavour, texture and appearance, use while the stems remain crisp and the leaves and tendrils are fresh and vibrant green.

Prefer to Grow Your Own Pea Tendrils?

If you would rather grow pea shoots and tendrils yourself, OzSprout stocks viable pea seed and growing supplies suitable for producing fresh trays at home.

Our Brown Maple Pea Seeds can be grown beyond the short sprout stage to produce pea shoots. Sow them in a Microgreen & Wheatgrass Grow Tray using Coco Fibre Growing Medium or another suitable tray-growing medium.

Peas are larger seeds and benefit from soaking before sowing, followed by firm contact with the growing medium during early germination.

For complete instructions covering soaking, sowing, weighted germination, watering, lighting and harvesting, see our How to Grow Pea Shoots at Home guide.

Growing your own is a practical option for maintaining a regular supply, while our fresh grow-to-order pea tendrils are available when you would prefer the crop to be grown and harvested for you.
