Care information

Proper cleaning, drying and storage will help keep your sprouting equipment hygienic and in good working condition. Always follow any product-specific care instructions supplied with the item.

Cleaning: Wash reusable jars, trays, lids, screens and other growing components thoroughly before first use and after every crop. Use warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse well with clean water.

Sanitising: Equipment used for growing edible sprouts or microgreens should be sanitised regularly using a suitable food-contact sanitising method that is compatible with the product material. Rinse where required by the sanitiser instructions.

Drying: Allow all components to dry completely before reassembling or storing. Trapped moisture can encourage mould, odours and microbial growth.

During Growing: Keep drainage holes, mesh screens and ventilation areas clear so water can drain freely and air can circulate around the crop. Remove seed residue and organic matter between growing cycles.

Handling: Avoid abrasive scourers, harsh chemicals or excessive force that may scratch, warp or damage plastic, glass, mesh or other components. Do not expose equipment to high heat unless the product is specifically rated for it.

Inspection: Check reusable equipment regularly for cracks, chips, damaged screens, worn seals or other deterioration. Replace damaged components that can no longer be cleaned effectively or used safely.

Storage: Store clean, completely dry equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area away from excessive heat, direct sunlight and contamination.

Best Care: Product materials and cleaning requirements can vary, so follow any specific washing, dishwasher, temperature or maintenance instructions shown on the product packaging or product page.

Delivery Times

Delivery times begin from the date your order is dispatched. As a general guide, Australia Post Parcel Post usually takes 2–6 business days, while Express Post generally takes 1–3 business days where available.

Regional and remote destinations may take longer. Orders containing seed sent to Western Australia, Tasmania or other biosecurity-controlled destinations may also require additional processing or inspection.

Authority to Leave

Suitable for a Wide Range of Sprouting Seeds

The jar is suitable for many common non-mucilaginous sprouting seeds, from fine leafy varieties through to larger legumes. Adjust the seed quantity, soaking time and harvest period according to the variety being grown.

How to Use the Glass Sprouting Jar

The Glass Sprouting Jar allows you to soak, rinse, drain and grow suitable sprouting seeds in the same 650ml container.

What You Need

Glass sprouting jar and supplied sieve lid/stand
Suitable non-mucilaginous sprouting seeds
Clean drinking-quality water
A shallow bowl, plate or drip tray to collect drainage water

Always follow the seed-specific quantity, soaking time and harvest instructions for the variety you are growing.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Clean the jar and lid: Wash both components thoroughly before starting.
Add the seeds: Measure the recommended quantity for your chosen variety. Avoid overfilling because seeds expand during soaking and germination.
Rinse the seeds: Add clean, cool water, gently swirl and drain through the sieve lid.
Soak: Add enough drinking-quality water to fully cover the seeds and soak for the recommended time.
Drain thoroughly: Pour out all soaking water through the sieve lid.
Rinse again: Add fresh water, gently agitate the seeds and drain completely.
Position the jar: Use the integrated stand to hold the jar at an inverted angle over a bowl, plate or drip tray.
Rinse regularly: Rinse and drain according to the requirements of the seed being grown, generally several times each day.
Maintain airflow and drainage: Keep the jar angled between rinses so excess moisture does not pool around the seeds.
Harvest: Harvest when the sprouts reach the recommended stage for the particular variety.

Best Position

Keep the jar in a bright location away from hot direct sunlight.

A moderate indoor temperature of approximately 18–22°C is suitable for many common sprouting varieties, although seed-specific temperature requirements should take priority.

Suitable Seeds

The jar can be used for many non-mucilaginous sprouting seeds, including:

Radish
Red clover
Fenugreek
Lentils
Mung beans
Peas

Large beans and peas expand considerably after soaking, so use a smaller starting quantity and leave plenty of room inside the jar.

Seeds Not Suitable for Jar Sprouting

Mucilaginous seeds such as cress form a gel when wet and do not drain freely in this style of sprouting jar.

These varieties are generally better suited to tray growing.

Cleaning & Care

After each crop:

Remove all remaining seeds, hulls and roots.
Wash the glass jar and sieve lid thoroughly.
Rinse with clean water.
Allow all components to dry completely before storing or starting another batch.
