Care information

Proper cleaning, drying and storage will help keep your sprouting equipment hygienic and in good working condition. Always follow any product-specific care instructions supplied with the item.

Cleaning: Wash reusable jars, trays, lids, screens and other growing components thoroughly before first use and after every crop. Use warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse well with clean water.

Sanitising: Equipment used for growing edible sprouts or microgreens should be sanitised regularly using a suitable food-contact sanitising method that is compatible with the product material. Rinse where required by the sanitiser instructions.

Drying: Allow all components to dry completely before reassembling or storing. Trapped moisture can encourage mould, odours and microbial growth.

During Growing: Keep drainage holes, mesh screens and ventilation areas clear so water can drain freely and air can circulate around the crop. Remove seed residue and organic matter between growing cycles.

Handling: Avoid abrasive scourers, harsh chemicals or excessive force that may scratch, warp or damage plastic, glass, mesh or other components. Do not expose equipment to high heat unless the product is specifically rated for it.

Inspection: Check reusable equipment regularly for cracks, chips, damaged screens, worn seals or other deterioration. Replace damaged components that can no longer be cleaned effectively or used safely.

Storage: Store clean, completely dry equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area away from excessive heat, direct sunlight and contamination.

Best Care: Product materials and cleaning requirements can vary, so follow any specific washing, dishwasher, temperature or maintenance instructions shown on the product packaging or product page.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your order size and weight, delivery address and available carrier services. We use Australia Post and other carriers to provide suitable delivery options and rates.

Dispatch

Orders are generally packed and dispatched within 0–2 business days (Monday–Friday), excluding public holidays and unusually busy periods.

Delivery Times

Delivery times begin from the date your order is dispatched. As a general guide, Australia Post Parcel Post usually takes 2–6 business days, while Express Post generally takes 1–3 business days where available.

Regional and remote destinations may take longer. Orders containing seed sent to Western Australia, Tasmania or other biosecurity-controlled destinations may also require additional processing or inspection.

Delivery estimates are provided as a guide only and can be affected by carrier delays, weather, peak periods and biosecurity requirements.

Tracking

All shipped orders include tracking. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with your tracking information so you can follow its progress.

Authority to Leave

Depending on the carrier and delivery service, your parcel may be left in a safe location if no one is available to receive it. You can provide delivery instructions during checkout where supported by the carrier; however, specific delivery requests cannot always be guaranteed.

Create a productive garden on a balcony, patio, courtyard or paved area with this 45L Vegetable Grow Bag. Made from UV-stabilised woven polypropylene, the flexible planter provides generous growing space for vegetables, herbs, flowers and other container-grown plants without the bulk of a traditional rigid pot.

The 45-litre capacity is particularly useful for larger vegetable crops and plants that need substantial root space. Use it for potatoes, tomatoes, chillies, capsicum, eggplants, leafy greens, herbs, strawberries, flowers and other appropriately sized plants.

Excellent for Growing Potatoes

The deep growing volume makes the bag particularly useful for potatoes. Start with a layer of growing medium, plant certified seed potatoes and progressively add more mix around the developing stems as the plants grow.

This hilling method allows the growing medium to be built up gradually through the bag while keeping the active growing tips exposed.

Drainage for Healthy Container Growing

Drainage openings in the base and sides allow excess water to escape rather than remaining trapped around the root zone. Good drainage is particularly important for container-grown vegetables, where roots require access to both moisture and air.

Use a quality potting or container-growing mix rather than filling the bag with dense garden soil alone. Coco Fibre Growing Medium can be incorporated into suitable container mixes to create a lightweight growing medium with good moisture-holding capacity.

Where additional moisture retention is useful, Vermiculite Growing Medium can also be blended with coco fibre, potting mix or other suitable growing media.

Ideal for Balconies, Patios & Small Gardens

A 45L grow bag provides substantial growing space without requiring a permanent garden bed. It can be positioned on patios, balconies, courtyards and other suitable surfaces with adequate light and drainage.

This makes it a practical option for renters, smaller gardens and areas where planting directly into the ground is not possible.

Flexible, Reusable & Easy to Store

The woven construction and flexible form allow the bag to be emptied, cleaned and folded relatively flat when not in use.

Reinforced handles provide convenient grip points when repositioning an empty or lightly filled bag. Once filled with moist growing medium, however, the planter can become very heavy and should be moved carefully.

How to Use a 45L Vegetable Grow Bag

A 45L grow bag works like a large flexible container for vegetables, herbs, flowers and other appropriately sized plants.

Setting Up the Grow Bag

Choose the position: Place the empty bag in its intended growing location before filling it.
Check drainage: Make sure the drainage openings in the base and sides are clear.
Protect the surface if required: Use a suitable saucer or protective surface where drainage water could cause staining or damage.
Add growing medium: Fill with a quality potting or container-growing mix appropriate for the crop.
Leave watering space: Leave a few centimetres between the growing medium and the top rim.
Plant your crop: Sow seeds or transplant seedlings according to their individual depth and spacing requirements.
Water thoroughly: Water after planting until the growing medium is evenly moist and excess water begins draining.
Monitor moisture: Check regularly, especially during hot or windy weather.
Feed as required: Apply an appropriate fertiliser according to the needs of the crop and the product directions.

Growing Potatoes in the Bag

Potatoes are particularly well suited to a deep grow bag.

Add approximately 15cm of growing medium to the bottom.
Place 1–2 certified seed potatoes on the surface.
Cover with approximately another 10cm of growing medium.
Water so the mix remains evenly moist without becoming saturated.
Allow the shoots to emerge and grow.
As the stems become taller, progressively add more growing medium around them.
Keep the upper growing tips exposed rather than completely burying the plant.
Continue adding growing medium until the bag is substantially filled.
Maintain regular moisture and feed according to the crop's needs.
Harvest once the potatoes reach maturity for the variety being grown.

Watering

Grow bags can dry faster than in-ground garden beds, particularly during warm or windy weather.

Check the growing medium regularly rather than watering on a fixed schedule.

Water thoroughly when required and allow excess water to drain freely.

Avoid keeping the root zone permanently saturated.

Feeding

Container-grown crops depend on a limited volume of growing medium, so nutrients can become depleted over time.

Use an appropriate fertiliser for the crop being grown and follow the fertiliser directions.

Heavy-feeding crops such as tomatoes and potatoes may require more regular feeding than herbs or ornamental plants.

Position

Match the location to the crop.

Sun-loving vegetables generally perform best with plenty of direct sunlight, while some leafy greens and herbs may tolerate partial shade.

Avoid placing the bag where drainage water cannot escape safely.

Moving the Grow Bag

A filled 45L grow bag can become very heavy, particularly after watering.

Position it before filling wherever possible.

If it must be moved, avoid relying solely on the handles when the bag is heavily loaded and use safe lifting technique.

Cleaning & Storage

After the crop is finished:

Empty the spent growing medium.
Remove remaining roots and plant debris.
Wash the bag as appropriate.
Allow it to dry completely.
Inspect the fabric, seams, handles and drainage openings.
Fold and store in a dry place until required again.
