Pea Tendril Microgreen Seeds – New Stock
Description
Description
New Stock – 99% Tendrils & 96% Germination
Our new Pea Tendril Microgreen Seeds stock produces 99% tendrils and has a 96% germination rate. This stock is selected for growers wanting a consistent crop of curling pea tendrils.
This is different stock from the blue peas previously sold under this listing, which produced around 30% leafy pea shoots without tendrils. Our original stock remains available as Blue Pea Sprouting Seeds in the Sprouting Seeds range. Choose this listing for the new stock intended for microgreen tendrils.
Pea Tendril Microgreen Seeds for Crisp Shoots & Fresh Pea Flavour
Pea Tendril Microgreen Seeds produce substantial green shoots with crisp stems, tender leaves and attractive curling tendrils. Their fresh garden-pea flavour and larger size make them useful both as a substantial fresh microgreen and as an eye-catching culinary garnish.
Unlike small-seeded microgreens, peas are soaked before sowing and grown densely on a supportive growing medium. A short covered establishment period encourages strong rooting before the crop is moved into bright light. Harvest can generally begin in approximately 10–16 days, with more developed curling tendrils appearing towards the later part of the harvest window.
Sweet Pea Flavour, Crisp Stems & Curling Tendrils
Pea tendril microgreens have a fresh, mildly sweet garden-pea flavour with crisp stems and tender green foliage. As the crop develops, fine curling tendrils add texture and give the shoots their characteristic appearance.
Use freshly harvested pea tendrils in salads, sandwiches, wraps and grain bowls, or add them to eggs, noodles, rice dishes and vegetables. They are also well suited to quick stir-fries—add them towards the end of cooking so the shoots soften slightly while retaining some crisp texture.
Grown Longer for More Developed Tendrils
Young pea shoots can be harvested relatively early, but allowing additional growing time encourages more developed leaves and curling tendrils. Harvest according to the crop rather than the calendar alone, cutting while the stems remain crisp and tender.
For a standard tray, use a supportive growing medium such as Coco Fibre Growing Medium in a Microgreen & Wheatgrass Grow Tray. Peas develop vigorous root systems, so consistent moisture, good drainage and adequate growing-medium depth are particularly useful.
Large Seeds for Dense Tray Growing
Pea seed is considerably larger than most microgreen seed and expands significantly after soaking. Sow the hydrated peas in a dense, even layer while avoiding deep piles or excessive overlap.
Good seed-to-medium contact during early establishment encourages strong rooting and a more uniform stand. Once the roots are established, bottom watering helps supply the substantial water requirements of the crop without repeatedly wetting the leaves and tendrils.
Pea Shoots Grown for Tendril Development
This new stock produces 99% tendrils, giving growers a more consistent tendril crop than our previous stock. Tendril length and shape can still vary with plant maturity and growing conditions. Allow the crop to develop before harvesting for visible curling tendrils.
If you prefer a pea crop grown primarily for tender leafy shoots rather than pronounced curling tendrils, see our Pea Shoot Microgreen Seeds.
