Fresh Broccoli Sprouts – Grown to Order
Our fresh broccoli sprouts are available on a grow-to-order basis. Rather than maintaining pre-packed sprouts in regular stock, we grow fresh batches specifically for confirmed orders and harvest them at the young sprout stage.
Broccoli sprouts have fine pale stems, small green cotyledon leaves and a crisp, tender texture. Their flavour is mild and fresh with a subtle broccoli and peppery brassica character, making them easy to add to a wide variety of meals.
How to Order Fresh Broccoli Sprouts
Fresh broccoli sprouts need to be arranged in advance and are not maintained as a ready-to-ship stock item.
To place an order, email admin@ozsprout.com.au with the quantity you require. We will confirm your order requirements, availability and expected timing before the crop is grown.
If you require sprouts for a café, restaurant, event or regular supply, please include your preferred quantity and required date when contacting us.
Crisp Fresh Sprouts for Everyday Meals
Broccoli sprouts are versatile enough for simple everyday meals as well as fresh plated presentations. Add them to salads, sandwiches, wraps, rolls and bowls, or use a small handful as a fresh garnish.
Their relatively mild flavour works well with avocado, tomato, cucumber, eggs, cheese and other fresh vegetables. They can also be combined with other sprouts and leafy greens to add variety in flavour and texture.
What Are Broccoli Sprouts?
Broccoli sprouts are produced by germinating broccoli seed and harvesting the entire young plant only a few days after germination. At this stage, the sprout consists primarily of the young root, stem, remaining seed and cotyledon leaves.
This makes broccoli sprouts different from broccoli microgreens, which are grown for longer, generally in a growing medium, and harvested by cutting the stems and leaves above the root zone.
Storage & Food Safety
Fresh broccoli sprouts are highly perishable and should remain refrigerated at 5°C or below. Keep them protected from contamination and wash thoroughly under cool running water immediately before use.
Raw seed sprouts can carry foodborne bacteria even when they appear fresh and clean. People at increased risk from foodborne illness should avoid eating raw or lightly cooked sprouts and choose thoroughly cooked sprouts instead.
Prefer to Grow Your Own Broccoli Sprouts?
If you would rather grow broccoli sprouts yourself, OzSprout stocks the seed and reusable equipment needed to produce fresh batches at home.
Start with our Broccoli Sprouting Seeds and grow them in a Glass Sprouting Jar. No soil or growing medium is required — the seeds are soaked, rinsed and thoroughly drained in the jar until the sprouts are ready to harvest.
For an all-in-one option, the Broccoli Sprout Grow Kit includes two reusable glass sprouting jars and broccoli sprouting seed, making it easy to grow staggered batches for a more regular supply.
For complete step-by-step instructions covering soaking, rinsing, drainage, greening, harvesting and food safety, see our How to Grow Broccoli Sprouts in 5 Easy Steps guide.
Growing your own is a practical option if you want a regular supply, while our fresh grow-to-order broccoli sprouts are available when you would prefer the crop to be grown for you.
