Care information

Proper storage and handling can help maintain seed quality and germination performance. Keep seeds sealed, dry and protected from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.

Storage: For best long-term storage, keep seeds refrigerated in a clean, airtight container or securely sealed packaging. A refrigerator at approximately 4°C provides a cool, stable environment that can help maintain seed viability. If refrigeration is not practical, store seeds in the coolest available dry, dark and temperature-stable location.

Moisture: Keep seeds dry at all times during storage. Excess moisture or humidity can reduce seed quality and encourage premature germination, mould or deterioration. Always reseal opened packaging promptly.

Removing Seeds from Refrigeration: Keep refrigerated seeds sealed while they return to room temperature before opening the package or container. This helps prevent condensation from forming on cold seeds and introducing unwanted moisture.

Temperature: Avoid repeated temperature changes and do not store seeds near ovens, heaters, windows, vehicles, sheds or other areas exposed to excessive or fluctuating heat.

Handling: Use clean, dry utensils when removing seed from larger packs and return the remaining seed to refrigerated storage promptly after use.

Before Sowing or Sprouting: Inspect seeds before use and discard any showing signs of moisture damage, mould, unusual odour or deterioration. When growing edible sprouts or microgreens, use clean equipment and drinking-quality water.

Best Quality: Use seed while fresh and follow any product-specific storage, germination and growing information provided in the Specifications, growing instructions or product packaging.

Dispatch

Orders are generally packed and dispatched within 0–2 business days (Monday–Friday), excluding public holidays and unusually busy periods.

Delivery Times

Delivery times begin from the date your order is dispatched. As a general guide, Australia Post Parcel Post usually takes 2–6 business days, while Express Post generally takes 1–3 business days where available.

Regional and remote destinations may take longer. Orders containing seed sent to Western Australia, Tasmania or other biosecurity-controlled destinations may also require additional processing or inspection.

Delivery estimates are provided as a guide only and can be affected by carrier delays, weather, peak periods and biosecurity requirements.

Tracking

All shipped orders include tracking. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with your tracking information so you can follow its progress.

Authority to Leave

Depending on the carrier and delivery service, your parcel may be left in a safe location if no one is available to receive it. You can provide delivery instructions during checkout where supported by the carrier; however, specific delivery requests cannot always be guaranteed.

Local Pickup – Riverstone, NSW

Seed Biosecurity – WA & Tasmania

Seeds and other plant material may be subject to state biosecurity restrictions.

Western Australia has specific entry requirements for seed, and seed consignments may be inspected by Quarantine WA. Tasmania also regulates the importation of viable seed, with additional requirements applying to certain species and consignments.

Requirements vary by seed species, quantity and destination and may change over time. Customers in Western Australia, Tasmania and other biosecurity-controlled areas should check current state requirements before ordering.

Where an order contains seed that cannot meet applicable biosecurity requirements, we may need to contact you before dispatch or remove affected products from the order.

Curled Parsley Herb Seeds

Curled Parsley Herb Seeds grow into compact plants with dense, deeply curled dark green leaves and a fresh, mild parsley flavour. Ideal for garnishes, salads, soups, sauces and everyday cooking, with plants suited to garden beds and containers.

Description

Curled Parsley Herb Seeds for Fresh Culinary Leaves

Curled Parsley Herb Seeds grow into compact, leafy plants with tightly curled dark green foliage and a fresh, mild herb flavour. A classic kitchen-garden favourite, Curled Parsley is useful both as an attractive garnish and as an everyday culinary herb.

Fresh leaves can be finely chopped into salads, soups, sauces, eggs, potatoes, vegetables, dressings and savoury dishes. The dense curled foliage also makes an excellent finishing herb where both colour and presentation matter.

Curled Parsley vs Italian Flat Leaf Parsley

Curled Parsley produces tightly ruffled foliage with a mild, fresh flavour and is particularly useful for garnishes and everyday kitchen use. If you prefer broader, flat leaves with a stronger parsley flavour that are easy to chop for sauces, salads and cooking, see our Italian Flat Leaf Parsley Herb Seeds.

Both types can be harvested repeatedly and grow well in garden beds, raised beds and containers.

Compact Parsley for Garden Beds & Pots

Curled Parsley grows well in fertile, consistently moist soil and performs in full sun to partial shade. Its compact leafy habit makes it particularly suitable for containers, raised beds, herb gardens and smaller growing spaces.

Parsley is naturally a biennial, producing its best leafy growth during the first year before progressing towards flowering and seed production. It is therefore commonly grown as an annual or short-lived biennial when fresh leaves are the main crop.

Harvest Fresh Leaves Again & Again

Once plants are established, harvest the outer stems close to the base while leaving the centre of the plant intact. Regular picking encourages continued fresh growth and allows plants to provide repeated harvests over an extended period.

Curled Parsley prefers cooler to moderate conditions and consistent moisture. Sow during spring and autumn in many Australian regions, with a broader growing season possible in mild climates.

How to Grow Curled Parsley

Curled Parsley is a biennial culinary herb grown for its tightly curled green leaves and mild fresh flavour. It prefers fertile soil, consistent moisture and cooler to moderate growing conditions.

Quick Start

  • Sowing season: Spring and autumn
  • Sowing depth: 3–5mm
  • Germination: 14–28 days
  • Germination temperature: approximately 18–24°C
  • Plant spacing: 20–30cm
  • Position: Full sun to partial shade
  • First substantial harvest: approximately 70–90 days
  • Life cycle: Biennial, often grown for first-year foliage

When to Sow

For most Australian climates, sow during:

Spring and autumn

General guidance:

  • Cool climates: spring through summer
  • Temperate climates: spring and autumn
  • Subtropical climates: autumn through spring
  • Tropical climates: favour the cooler months
  • Hot and arid climates: favour autumn and spring

In mild areas, parsley can often be grown through much of the year.

Sowing

Curled Parsley can be direct sown or raised as seedlings.

For direct sowing:

  1. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil.
  2. Sow approximately 3–5mm deep.
  3. Cover lightly with fine soil.
  4. Water gently.
  5. Keep the seedbed consistently moist until seedlings establish.

For seedling raising:

  1. Fill trays or small pots with fine seed-raising mix.
  2. Sow approximately 3–5mm deep.
  3. Keep evenly moist.
  4. Place in a bright position.
  5. Transplant once seedlings have several true leaves and are sturdy enough to handle.

Germination

Expect germination in approximately:

14–28 days

Aim for approximately:

18–24°C

Parsley is naturally slower to germinate than many herbs, so keep the growing medium evenly moist and allow adequate time for emergence.

Position & Spacing

Grow in:

Full sun to partial shade

Allow approximately:

20–30cm between plants

Use fertile, moist but well-drained soil.

In hot Australian conditions, some afternoon shade can help reduce moisture stress and maintain tender foliage.

Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist without leaving it waterlogged.

Water thoroughly when required and avoid repeatedly allowing plants to wilt.

For container-grown parsley:

  • check moisture more frequently during warm weather;
  • ensure excess water drains freely; and
  • do not leave pots standing permanently in water.

Feeding

Parsley responds well to fertile soil containing organic matter.

Incorporate mature compost or another suitable soil amendment before planting where required.

Frequently harvested container plants can be fed periodically during active growth.

Harvesting

Light harvesting can begin once plants have developed a healthy amount of foliage.

For substantial regular harvesting, allow approximately:

70–90 days from sowing

To harvest:

  1. Select mature outer stems.
  2. Cut them close to the base.
  3. Leave the younger central growth intact.
  4. Allow new outer leaves to develop before another heavy harvest.

Harvesting whole outer stems is preferable to removing only the leafy tips.

Curled vs Italian Flat Leaf Parsley

Curled Parsley has tightly ruffled foliage and a mild fresh flavour that works particularly well as a garnish.

For broader flat leaves with a stronger parsley flavour, see Italian Flat Leaf Parsley Herb Seeds.

Flowering & Second-Year Growth

Parsley is naturally a biennial.

In its second growing season, established plants may produce tall flower stalks and eventually seed. Once flowering progresses strongly, leaf production usually declines and the foliage can become tougher.

For the best culinary leaves, many growers replace older plants with fresh seedlings.

Growing Curled Parsley in Pots

Curled Parsley grows well in containers.

Use a pot approximately:

20–30cm wide or larger

with:

  • sufficient depth for the root system;
  • good drainage holes;
  • quality potting mix;
  • full sun to partial shade; and
  • consistent watering.

Several plants can be grown in a larger container if adequately spaced.

Harvest & Storage

Harvest healthy leaves and stems as required.

Fresh parsley is best used soon after picking. Refrigerate promptly for short-term storage.

Curled Parsley can also be finely chopped and frozen. Drying is possible, although fresh or frozen parsley generally retains more of its characteristic flavour.

Seed Storage

Store unused seed sealed in a cool, dry and dark place away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
